initially some hint of wet cardboard and fungus, and I thought it might have been corked. Despite her cold, sommelier said the wine wasn't corked. This went away after a few minutes. Toasty nose, ripe, lemon citrus. Not bad but a little disappointing.
I brought this bottle tonight because I remember drinking this wine last year with Nicolas Potel, and it blew me away. Not quite the same performance tonight, but it got better after being "released from prison" - when we poured the wine from the original small Sauvignon Blanc glasses into the large red Burgundy glasses. Slightly oxidized nose of sweet grass, corn, citrus, minerals, beeswax and green nashi pear (水晶梨). Good acidity balance.
Smell of cool peach. Extreemly concentrated. Arousing and compelling. Taste: Perfectly balanced. tropic fruits, a little malt, integrated oak, seawater at its peak now? A perfect aged white burgundy. Glass smelling 5 minutes after fnished as it still was full. Best white burundy tasted up to date. Extraordinary and highly reccomended. EUR 150, at Vinmonopolet Briskeby, Oslo 2007
