  • In a very good shape. Clean, rather light yellow and very fresh for a 30 y.o. white. Lots of smoky notes as well as some peach and pear. Good presence on the palate, nice sturdy structure that wasn't too woody or overpowering. It didn't have lots of finesse and complex flowery/vanilla side to it that the better examples of 1er Cru have, but otherwise it was really fine.

  • Opened and poured, this wine gave a surprisingly good showing. The wine shows more youth and vibrancy than expected, although it displays a somewhat straightforward nature. This is at or around maturity and will not benefit from additional bottle age. This bottle was acquired about two years with unknown storage conditions prior to acquisition.

  • Drunk at Troquet-Boston ($45, annual cellar clearance). Label damaged, and no vintage identification anywhere even on cork. Per Chris, most likely the '86, but may have been the '85 (which are the only two vintages he purchased). Despite the label damage, ullage and cork both excellent. Color was a surprisingly light yellow for a Meursault of this age. A bit rich and rounded on the palate but fresh and vibrant, showing wonderful honeyed orchard fruit. Great texture with an oily/beeswaxy quality, faintly lemony acids, and a touch of minerality on the finish. Lovely.

  • Noble light golden colour. This has aged beautifully, lovely sweetness, a little varnish at first followed by ripe banana, changing to subtle oak notes and vanilla. Well balanced, good bitterness, slightly oily, a 24 year old in jolly good form. Very good. 13% alc.

  • Brought the wine to Charlie Trotters for a friends 22nd anniversary. Upon opening their was a slight scent of must and I figured that with some time and areation that this would blow off. It did. The wine was simply fantastic, herbaious and flinty. We were served 3 fish courses and the wine just got better and better in the glass with time. Outstanding! Only disappointment is this was my last bottle. Finished dinner with a '86 Penfolds Grange and that was a great bottle itself. (96+)
