  • An overly exaggerated blend, perhaps, but undeniably a skillfully crafted wine. This is not a wine to over-intellectualize, but rather to simply enjoy. Blackberry, marionberry, black cherry, dark earth, flowers, and black truffle are only some of what can be found. With a smooth mouthfeel and food-friendly, this is a high quality weeknight wine to be consumed with dark savory food.

  • Similar to the other bottle that we opened. I still love this wine, and it is a real blast to play with for those who like to experiment and experience the most from a great bottle. I tried some through an aerator, and tried some with a two hour decant, I also tried some straight out of the bottle and let it evolve as the time passed. It's wines like this that remind me as to why I really enjoy the good ones. There is just so much variety and joy to be found in just one bottle. So many experiences and little nuances to enjoy and ponder. It's contemplative, and pensive and really allows you the space to pick apart every little bitty bit of its changing nature. Cheers!

  • This was yet another wonderful wine from the folks at Jonata. I was intregued to see how an older vintage of Jonata's wines would be, and got a good opportuinty to find out. First of all, this is a pretty huge wine. Dark purple, blood red, light will only pass through the thinnest amount of this liquid. We tried a little straight out of the bottle, and found it still a little tight, but very good. A good 20 min in the glass and it really starts to open up, and continues on. We also tried decanting a bit as well and found roughly 2 hours to be the sweet spot before it starts to lose its beautiful nose. The really funny thing about this wine is how it responded to swirling. Immediately after a swirl it would become a little disjointed, but given a few minutes it would settle down again. Nose was a bit hot, with wonderful tart dark fruit and herbal notes. The taste was a dark tart fruit and cocoa on the front with firm tannins leading to a VERY long finish. I really seem to like the offerings from this vineyard as they really give a wine lover a lot to play with and enjoy. Lots of depth and quality here and I'm looking forward to enjoying some of the other varieties I currently have in the cellar. Cheers!

  • A rich and robust style, with blackberry, blueberry, and mocha. Good lift lends balance. Moderate tannins dominate a long finish.
