After a corked first bottle, this one was sound and drinking well. Still plenty of ripe fruit, fresh and well balanced, although lacking the detail and complexity that I had hoped for here.

Faiveley Dinner at Marea 11/10/2011 (Marea): Bricking ruby. Minerally, leather, and correct, but uninteresting, rather foursquare. Sweet on palate, though, with decent length. It might need some more time, I guess, but I just don't think this wine is what one hopes for in a good year. B+/A-

Richer, rounder, and arguably a bit more suave than the Volnay but just as ready to go with the same gentle palate impact and saturating sweet fruit.
