  • I found this bottle in my cellar and I was surprised about it. I would call it getting old in honor. For sure fresh fruits are close to be gone but there are hints of pepper and roasted wood. The nose was very strange when I opened it but recovered to a level which was ok. The finish is not that long. For sure this wine should not be kept that long but it was still a pleasure to drink it.

  • Some tart dark berry plum, cherry fruit....leather, garrigue funk, green herbs(menthol), really bright/sour acidity, dusty and rustic. Pretty harsh, not a great balance, abrupt dry finish.....but I like the flavors....needs some rustic beef stew! This wine has never wowed me.

  • Opened and poured. Initial slight nose of cork treated with the saran trick. Aromas of tar, licorice, charcoal, dark fruit compote. Iron, dusty currant and cranberry on the palate, with nice pucker and minimal tannin. Garrigue terrior notes of mineral as well, though these were more pronounced in the '99 vintage. A somewhat simplistic but decent quaffer. Would imbibe sooner than later, as I see the remaining fruit fading away.

  • Bottle was a leaker with dried wine under the capsule. Really unpleasant upon opening. Funky, metallic, with stewy fruit and some volatile acidity. Probably a masochist but instead of dumping I put it in the fridge for a couple of days. Tonight it's marginally more drinkable, showing a bit of minerality on the nose and pleasantly vegetal on the palate. But there's a gritty hot climate scorched-earth quality and an amaro-like bitterness that isn't working for me. Obviously not a pristine example, but this bears little resemblance to an excellent bottle of the 2001 drank a year ago.
