Community Tasting Notes (72) Avg Score: 92.5 points

  • A slightly more advanced bottle. Funky and light at first but developed over the course of several hours of air to be impressive. Pushing 95 points.

  • Pausing for the Cause Fundraiser and Dinner (Galit - Chicago IL): From magnum. I am so glad I gave this enough time and tried the wine a couple of times through the evening. This was ripe but unforthcoming to start (despite it being decanted in advance), but slowly and begrudgingly emerged into a rich beauty with caramel apple and honeycomb coming through after an hour or so in glass.

  • It was time. En magnum. Color was great and the initial taste confirmed it would be good. Decanted for an hr and it helped. In the glass, the wine evolved nicely and did not disappoint those who had an opportunity to taste this wine.

  • From a god looking bottle with a 2.5 cm fill, this wine had a deep yellow center and clear rims. The medium+ intensity nose demonstrated creme brûlée, lemon, lime, and white stone.

In the mouth, this wine was extremely balanced great richness, strong integrated acidity, and huge stony length.

This took 4+ hours of air to open up. It was certainly at its peak but will last years. Outstanding!

  • Chilled and then decanted 30 minutes before dinner. As soon as the ah-so touched the cork it slid straight into the bottle which didn’t give me much confidence. Decanting it showed a light golden colour and some dark sediment left in the bottle. But on the first sniff my fears were dispelled and I got resounding flavours of werther’s originals with nothing oxidative about it. Despite the age this really doesn’t have a heavy profile but it’s not exactly faded either. If anything I was expecting more tertiary/oxidative flavours but instead I got more toffee/fudge/marzipan flavours and the slightest hint of pineapple, but nothing on the scale of even the most subtle Sonoma Chardonnay. I don’t think this is going to gain anything more but this bottle was in a great spot and doesn’t feel like it’s going anywhere fast. Super match with pan-fried salmon.
