Tasted by Finare Vinare on 11/23/2008 & rated 95 points: Impressive, dense, dark, varm blueish red hue with a fine deposit in the glass. The nose is equally impressive - deep, dense and wide with notes of dark plum, blackberries and blueberry marmalade. Not only fruit, though, we find a bunch of other things: damp, rich earth in the garden, stemmy tobacco aromas, ash, asphalt, vanilla and superbly integrated toasty oak. But it is when the wine enters the mouth that it defines its own scale - it is big as a football arena or a huge outdoor show in cinemascope. It's really difficult to find the words for how well put together this is, all components are in balance, the taste just grows and grows - an enormously lustful experience. There are copious amounts of modern fruit, expensive toasted oak and vanilla, but there's no point trying to pull threads out of this luxurious fabric. A wine that expands the horizon. (1063 views)
Tasted by winefool on 10/5/2007 & rated 90 points: Golf & Dinner at Medinah with Rocky, Kevin, et al. (Medinah Country Club): I was really excited to try this as I had heard great things about it (better than Masseto!). Sadly it sounds like this bottle was not showing as well as it could have. Nice enough wine with good concentration of black fruit, but I didn't like it as well as either of the bordeaux it was next to. (1237 views)
