Fairly closed nose, but still perfumed with a touch of meaty notes at the same time. Tannins very soft and integrated at the moment. Not a huge blockbuster but a quality feminine wine drinking very well now, very understated but classy.
My wife and I are not very familiar with Cote Rotie so this was a bit of an introduction. Perhaps we are too used to the dense new world style of shiraz, and this one probably needed a bit of decanting, but we initially found it to be seriously lacking in fruit, really quite limp. After some time in the glass and accompanied by a steak the spice started to emerge and it became more enjoyable but we never really got the fruit.
