  • Upon opening, an aroma of balsamic had me prepared for disappointment. But after 20 minutes in the glass, Lorraine came out swinging. Huge nose of brambly black fruit and crushed rock. Lots of tapenade, cassis, and bacon fat across a long, lush finish. Just enough acid to keep it lively, and was still going strong after two hours. Not sure another year will be kind, so I'd drink up now. Very, very enjoyable.

  • Wanted something Ooozalicious...cellared since release, decanted for an hour...MASSIVE mouthful of DELISH! Gorgeous nose of white flowers, black olive, raspberry liqueur, creme de cassis, camphor...SO rich and mouth coating on the palate...pure liqueured berry fruits extracted as all get out, yet not at all cloying or heavy as there is a lifted freshness of sour skin acidity and full bloom flower florals...16.5 is balanced very well...layers and layers of complexity...mocha, smoked cherrywood, olive tapenade, licorice, blueberry pancakes stuffed with bacon...smooth and persistent with dusty white pepper spice kick and the long long mesmerizing finish. Such a great wine...just a little goes a long way!

  • Pretty extraordinary. I stopped buying from the list long ago only because I don’t drink much Syrah. This was remarkably balanced — big and rich but not over the top, good structure, white pepper balanced by good fruit. Really enjoyable. Seems to have a few years left.

  • Slow ox for one hour. Big enveloping nose of black cherry, smoked bacon and herbs. The wine is massive, layered, full bodied with tremendous concentration but it also drinks quite smoothly with the tannin well integrated into the wine. It also still feels pretty youthful despite being over 15 years old with another 10 to 15 years of aging potential ahead.
