  • Popped and decanted for an hour before the first taste. Started out big and bold. Lots of ripe fruit, but the alcohol covered a lot. However, by the second hour, the wine really started to show its complexity. Hints of raspberry, leather, and vanilla with a nice smooth finish.

  • Opened our first bottle of Neiman and was completely taken back to the first time we tasted it. A few weeks ago, we were drinking wine with John Caldwell at his vineyard, when John invited in another group. John introduced us to Mr. Neiman, and said we should try his wine. After drinking Caldwell’s best stuff, we weren’t anticipating much. However, we were completely blown away. Even Caldwell was completely shocked how great the wine was. Very happy that I bought more than one bottle.

  • Same note as before. Great wine. Worth the price. Wish I had more!

  • Terrific wine! This was popped and poured and served with fontina cheese stuffed pasta with a garlic butter sauce and freshly shaved black truffle, prosciutto wrapped pheasant and a grilled porkchop stuffed with chestnut mouse and porcini mushroom. The color was black and had an amzingly spicey nose - some thought syrah or zinfandel - none of which this wine has! The wine had a nice complecity, high acid moderate tannin and a 5-7 second finish. There were aromas of currants, casis and dried black cherry. Over the course of dinner (about an hour) the merlot component took over giving the wine a nice smootheness - altough MAx thought it "sweet tasting." This cost about $90 and was not worth the price. If I recall, the 2005 Schrader was about $100 and was a FAR superior wine. If this wine were $40 it would be a slam dink for buying again.
