(from memory) Medium red, subtle nose but opens with time of forest floor, spice, cassis, salt and blackberry, palate is all burgundy with tart fruit followed by an even more complex mid-palate of stewed dark fruits, spices and damp earth, long finish

(Chevillon Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Les Roncieres) Very unyeilding at first. Almost tough. But still a very pure nose of mint, dried leaves and red fruits. Soon as it opens the nose is more perfumed with a nice underbrush element. Great nose. Kept going back in. The palate after being austere and tannic for around the first ten minutes gave way to a wine of great finesse and purity with a wollop of tight concentrated red fruits. Great acidity and density. Pinot sap and spice round out the complex finish. Young and could use more time but this wine has great material right now.

Over the hill. Light brick color, no fruit -- just residual tannin.
