  • 16% alcohol. Tasted blind.

Pretty completely opaque, intense black-ish red color. Dense and concentrated nose with aromas of raisins and prunes, some sweet slightly jammy strawberry notes, a little bit of overripe dark berries and a sweet, lifted touch of VA. Very attractive. The wine is dense, sweet and slightly hot on the palate with full and almost chewy body and concentrated flavors of prunes and plum compote, some blackberry jam, a little bit of raisin and a touch of dark-toned, juicy fruit. Overall the wine feels powerful and quite structured, although the structure relies mainly on the firm, somewhat grippy tannins than on the modest acidity. The finish is dense, concentrated and grippy with moderately grippy tannins and very sweet, unctuous flavors of wizened black cherries, juicy pruney fruit, some peppery spice, a little bit of raisin and a touch of alcohol. The aftertaste is quite astringent and somewhat warm.

A beautiful, concentrated and nicely developed VDN that feels somewhat porty, but is still lighter and more Grenache-y with this concentrated strawberry jam character. Although not really high in acidity, it is still easy to promise long life for the wine, seeing how youthful it still is. Wonderful now and even better with some more age. Delicious stuff.
