  Orange rim, dark ruby center. Black fruits, prune, sour cherry, kumquat, and tobacco. Soft, silky tannin. Bottle was at prime, and should be able to improve over the next few years.

  Decanted for about 60-90 minutes. Dark red, almost purple. Huge. Extremely rich. Remarkable fruit. No longer conspicuously tannic; no sharp edges. Seems to be in its prime drinking window. Perhaps it will develop a bit more complexity and subtlety with more time. At present, this seemed to me to Tempranillo what some of the more massive California Cabs are to CS.

  This still tastes young, and I imagine it has a lot of life ahead of it. Part of a Spanish wine tasting at a Steakhouse with my wine group. All the reds were opened, but not decanted, for over 45 minutes before serving. Long finish. It might have been the WOTN, but since we didn't take a vote...who knows?

  Fabulous Ribera del Duero. After 16 years, still plenty of fruit and a lot of life ahead. Decanted 4 hours and still tastes on the YOUNG side. Definitely not at its peak. Lovely finish!

  So many years still ahead. Huge nose RDD, with an almost pinot core aspect. Still a good 5-7 years of goodness here, though one notch thinner on the finish from my last bottle 9 years ago. Drink with confidence and a smile. 50/5/14/18/7
