(Castello di Ama Vigna l'Apparita) This is the Tuscan Merlot no one talks about. It's a shame because it is the most classic and the most ageworthy. Beautifully pure Merlot fruit on a serious structure with a very very long finish. Really reminds me of a top vintage of old-school St. Emilion like Figeac or Magdelaine but with that wonderful Tuscan acidity. Brilliant wine and better than Masseto and Messorio and a touch cheaper.
