  • Tasting 1996 Penfolds Grange (during private dinner) (Restaurante Cuenllas - Madrid): Initially slightly reduced nose, opening towards meat and floral notes. No thrill.
    Fainting on the palate but with a touch of acidity that allows it to develop its role accompanying dinner.
    I liked it better a few years ago anyway.

    Inicialmente un poco reducido en nariz, abriéndose hacia notas cárnicas y florales. Sin emocionar.
    Desfalleciendo en boca pero con un punto de acidez que le permite desarrollar su papel acompañando a la cena.
    Me gustó más hace unos años de todas formas.

  • Almost undrinkable at first, was needing 24 hours breathing to show just a little of its origins.
    Clean bricking colour for a sweet nose with some fruit and cedar box.
    On the palate this bottle was a different performance, very Fronsac, so rustic, hard wine with a watery texture.
    Possibly over the hill and a little vetust but what do you expect from a 27 years old second row bottle?

    Casi imbebible al principio, necesitaba 24 horas respirando para mostrar un poquito de sus orígenes.
    Color ladrillo limpio para una nariz dulce con algo de fruta y caja de cedro.
    En boca esta botella tenía una actuación diferente, muy Fronsac, así que rústica, un vino áspero con una textura acuosa.
    Posiblemente pasada y un poco vetusta pero ¿Qué esperas de una botella de 27 años de segunda fila?
