Ordered at The Kitchen restaurant in Sacramento. The sommelier removed saturated cork with Durand, tasted, and poured. Wonderful Bordeaux blend. Old wines often taste somewhat like a sherry or liquerish to me, but this was wine. Bottle clearly well cellared.

Drinkable and interesting in its on right simply to taste it and expand one’s vintage wine experience. Not a whole lot left in terms of structure. Clearly well past it’s prime and on the home stretch of drinkability.

Last of 12, decanted 45 minutes, perfect level, cork half travelled, previous notes from 96 to 08 very good or better - browning garnet, leggy; plum and sweet black cherry bouquet tinged with spice, some truffle and earth, attractive if not particularly complex; fullish, long, decent persistence, velvety, bit simple, fruit tiring as might be expected for a 34 year old Pomerol but attractive generosity of a beautifully balanced top vintage, drink up. VGI (17)……….had thought of putting this lone bottle up against a more recent Hosanna (successor to most of Certan-Giraud) but didn't want to wait any longer but not sure that this falls far behind my 01 say in spite of the hype and much elevated pricing!

PnP. Bottle was in great condition. Tasted Blind. Earthy, elegant, still have moderate amount of fruits but I won't keep it for too long. Detailed note is not available since it was about a month ago but definitely a well-aged pomerol. If you are a Burgundy lover, you will like this wine.
