Deep, dark garnet in color, almost opaque with just ever-so-slight clearing at the edges. Full, fragrant & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, plums & cassis with overtones of earthy/dusty & herbal notes of mint & anise, graphite, tobacco, dark cocoa, minerals & a slight hint of cedar in the background. Full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blackberries & mulberries with cocoa, herbs, minerals, spices & a hint of oak in the background. Lingering smooth finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing. Even at 41 years of age, there is potential for further improvement as it continues to approach its peak of development. Cork crumbled upon opening; fill was below midpoint in the neck.

Out of a 5L and double decanted and shared with 24 other friends via mason jars and a virtual dinner. Complex, sweet Napa cab flavor, 13% alcohol. Browning edges, didn’t dissipate and still going strong after 4 hrs. Outstanding anniversary yearned fun to share in a strange virtual world we live in now.

Wow. Huge nose and true cab taste, pencil shavings, cedar, berry, good finish. Sadly last btl but an anniversary wine for my beautiful wife’s 65th bday.

What a treat to taste a wine so rare! Very special indeed. As a few other notes indicated, this wine has MILES to go. Blind I would have guessed 15 years younger - mid 90s.
For me, strong notes of luxardo cherry, amaro, some medicinal quality. And not slowing down at all. Still lots of grip and fruit. Long finish. Excellent showing.

JG Double Blind Intro Retro (Restaurant Michael): Served double blind and en magnum. Inky ruby in color. Full nose has dense plum fruit and some cedar ands spice, but this is brooding and closed-in for the most part. Palate has broad-scaled fruit and is rather non-delineated at the moment. Needs time. Crazy on reveal to see this is a still too young Dunn HM.
