Old Wine Dinner-Classics and Oddities: Golden color. Gorgeous nectar. Honeyed, carressing, not too sweet, beautiful acidity, shining pear fruit. Just perfect now and a terrific capstone to an amazing evening of wine.
Consumed as part of a larger Baumard tasting (multiple Trie Speciale, Clos Papillon, Clos Ste Catherine and Quarts de Chaume vintages).
A demisec version of Clos Ste Catherine, or so it seemed. After the 05 Catherine, the 89 had greater complexity and more minerals, but an almost sour mid-palate... not in an unpleasant way... just lacking the "love" the 05 showed.
