  Rubí de capa media/alta con ribete teja. Nariz expresiva, de corte clásico, con un atractivo bouquet, cueros finos, flores ajadas, frutilla licorosa, algo de humo, especiados, maderas finas. En boca tiene buen Ataque, pasa bastante fluido pero con materia, notable frescura, tanino pulido, textura algo terrosa, estructura ligera, largo y con profundidad. Se aconseja decantar (que no airear). Magnífico.

  Colour beginning to veer towards tawny. At first sip I was bothered by slightly overt vanilla and cloy on the finish, but these receded after more air and a mouthful of lamb. Fuller with more backbone than much mature Rioja, it was nevertheless harmonious and elegant showing sweet cherry fruit infused with kirsch and touches of spice together with velvety texture, fresh acidity and firmness towards the long finish. A lovely wine but my last bottle, alas.

  Nice nose of spice and good fruit. Drinking nicely now, but is just getting into that maturity window and should have a nice long life ahead of it. Classic La Rioja.

  Garnet colour slightly lighter at rim. Nose of espresso and asian spice with some tobacco.
  Mature but not old. In the background there is a very slight vegetal/musty note but it doesn't detract from a very enjoyable nose.
  On the palate there's ripe, sweet red and black fruit.
  It's richly textured and fully evolved. Some glycerol but a slight bitter twist on the finish that prevents this from being flabby.
  Over the course of the evening this hardly changes. Mature but not in decline. It has that typical Contino caramel richness.
  Very enjoyable (93)
