Extremely luxurious bouquet with dark forest fruits, cassis, graphite, cigar box and beautifully toasted oak. On the palate dark as well as red forest fruits, sweet spices, beautiful acidity and tannin and extremely well balanced. Extremely delicious and a mix between classical and modern style. A star of the vintage! Really great now and no problem cellaring this for another 5 – 7+ years.
Brought to grill restaurant in Hokkaido. Poured into decanter and drank over almost 2h. Dark garnet with a thin translucent rim. Dark berries, forest floor and earth on the nose. On the palate there is still plenty of fresh and juicy fruit, initial notes of leather blow off as the wine opens up. Coffee and toast as expected from a modern Pape Clement but it's well integrated given the plenty of fruit. Tannins not noticeable. Nice, fairly long finish. An excellent Pape Clement and an excellent 2003 Bordeaux with none of the overripe and burned flavors. Will last but don't see any reason not to open today. 93-94
Dark red in color. Nose of leather, Earl Grey tea and tobacco leaves. Quite sweet and rich but has a very nice balance. Very smooth tannins. Now in a very nice drinking phase but I see another 10-15 years of high quality drinking ahead.
Dark fruit, earth, smoke. Strong and muscular yet suave with some rosemary and dried hers and fine tannins. Drinking well but will improve, no rush to drink at all. this wine has another good 20+ years. B+/A-
