Blind "Grand Cru" with Lobster & Flannery Steak (House of Nanda - Chicago IL): Served double blind alongside the 2006. Clearly Burg in a classic, leaner vintage with good weight, gracefully maturing black fruit and very good balance. Best I can ever recall for this wine, which has slowly been getting better with more cellar time.

Double blind 98/06 pair. Wide open for business with an intense nose of red and black cherry and loads of spice. The palate is rich with mature red fruits that have so much spice and toasted herbs throughout. Slightly preferred the youthful intensity of the 06.

"Grand cru" blinds (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. Clearly top notch Burgundy; the nose had this spicy intensity that made me think Leroy for a moment. This is very ripe and complex, and shows layers of fruit and mushroom, counterweighted by plentiful but balanced acidity and minerality. The fruit is a little more secondary here, but I found this to be a little more resolved than the 2006 alongside, and of the pair, I would have to give the nod to this bottle.

Nose minty perfumed berries, Palate brambly, forest floor, perfume, full of flavour, beautiful fruit, good acidity and grip. Long full flavoured aftertaste. Complex, well-balanced and elegant

Dark fruit, mineral and earth. In an awkward stage as the sweetness and the Rousseau transperency were somewhat muted. Seems very backward.
