The nose is beginning to show some age with a bit of stewed fruit but on the palate this remains a good wine. A big dark fruit dominates the core of the profile and earth and spice add some interest. Despite 15%, tie wine remains well balanced.

Lots of concise dark fruit flavors like blueberry atop an earthy fruity nose. The structure is soft and the wine well balanced and integrated. Day two, not so much. It has become a bit disjointed and massively fruity; the balance of day one has disappeared.

So after cellaring this for about 7 years, we have ourselves a very intense but very well made syrah. This has "the dance" that Morgan Twain Peterson coined about syrah. Lively on the palate with florals, perfume, berries, meat, and earth. This was full throttle and almost too much for me the first day but I could not deny the typicity. Corked and back in fridge for a day. Now we are really talking, still intense but it has added notes of green olive and bacon and remains admirably balanced for the intensity. I have to give credit to Joey Tensley for teaching me that young syrahs can be like teenagers, gangly and awkward, but the good ones come together and this sure did in a big way.

This started with an inviting, meaty nose combines with dark fruits and peppery spices. On the palate it was consistent: dark and rich with interesting pepper and spice notes and a pretty good finish laid out on a supportive acidic baseline. However with air and time, it became a little disjointed and lost a sense of integration and promise.

The nose was shy at first and exhibited a perfumed laundry detergent. After some air (10 minutes) the wine gave off distinct notes of blueberry, orange peel, animal and very slight barnyard. The axis of the profile was vividly acidic and supported a rich dark fruit that remained strong through the mid palate and ended with some peppery notes and, still lively, tannins. The result was an excellent, fairly complex wine with a strong, lingering finish.
