Massive wine, still, after all these years. Slight bricking at the edges, but otherwise, still mostly opaque w/purple -- garnet coloring. The nose is all red fruit (cherries & raspberries) along with some earthy elements, coffee, loam, leather -- very complex. There is some medicinal and a strong vein of minerality in the mouth -- particularly as we had this wine with some bison steaks. The tannins were grippy but smoothed out given the age. The finish was long and persistent, but not as seamless & velvety as I hoped -- hence my score.
This is certainly among the top Cabs from Chile, but it also shows they are still lagging behind Napa & Bordeaux.
