Medium red colour - nice and clear. Tight nose - raspberry, sweet musk and a touch of aniseed on the nose. Raspberry, strawberry and cranberry flavours along with a slight acidic bite. Still feels fresh and youthful. Shame it is my last bottle as this has life left in it.

Cork was in good shape. Decanted for one hour. Pleasant nose of mellow, ripe dark fruit with a bit of sous-bois emerging later on. Medium(+) bodied, smooth and silky on the palate, tannins almost resolved, delivering mellow juicy ripe dark fruit with a nice umami aspect. Not so complex but very elegant and poised. Gracefully aged indeed. Time to drink up and enjoy.

served 40 minutes after opening. A little hot and alcoholic, but still reasonably sweet, with a hint of dustiness on the nose. After 1 hour the pungency faded a little, and the nose softened up a little. Sweet, ripe fruit, with some dried herbs and woodsy notes.

South African wine doesn’t age well so they say. Well on the evidence of these two bottles I have to say that it jolly well can. A good fruit core of the dark fruit variety was still present with earthy, bramble tones and a tarry edge. A very fine wine and nearly 13 years old.

Dark fruits, spice, leather and tar on the nose. Smooth with similar flavours in the mouth. Long length. Drinking beautifully.
