I bought this at auction for $15 a year ago to see how this would age. This is the top wine from this producer. Nino Pieropan has seen the controversial Soave DOC through thick and thin for over thirty years, always concentrating on quality and making one of the best Soave's year in and year out. A full bodied ripe style. 100% late-harvested Garganega grapes which ferment in 500-liter oak barrels for several months and are then transferred for further aging in 20-hl. barrels, for a total of about 1 year. I opened this ata dinner at our home when Otis and his wife came over. Time was not kind to this wine and it was a serious disappointment. Gold yellow color. Petrol on the nose. Very over the hill tasting. Tired and slightly oxidized. It had a burnt taste with apples. Flat finish. 71 points

Wine Education Service - Italian Style - The North East: A nose with lots of character - not just fruit.
A surprising tasting wine, crystallised pineapple, concentrated and complex.
