I don't think this showed quite right. Perhaps it didn't get enough air, as it was just starting to open up at the end of the evening. For me, though, just a touch too much VA obscured what was otherwise a very good wine underneath. Black fruits, spice, plenty of tannin still but the tannin is smooth and velvety and refined. Good bottles probably are not yet mature.

slow-oxed for 6 hrs. soaring nose of complex intermingled floral and ripe red/black fruit elements, and balanced. the palate however never reached the levels that the nose advertised. in comparison, a bit shrill as if the wine was still shut down, and was screaming to be left alone.
