Burgundy Producer Dinner (Bistro de l'Hotel - Beaune): Probably the 3rd or 4th time I've had this wine and it's been a rock star every time. It has prob been 5 years since I've had it last and while moderately mature, it shows such great red and black cherry, perfectly accompanied by Asian five spice. Dense, powerful, well textured and nuanced. My WOTN, and also WOTN for at least half the others at dinner that I asked.
Mature, ripe with slightly stewed aroma. Although difficult to pin point the Terroir blind, the palate was rich, sweet and enjoyable. The first 90 sampled of this wine and interested to see how other bottles will show in comparison.
Fragrant nose of sweet ripe plum and black cherry this wine became more delicious as we tried to leisurely drink with our selection of Burgundy at The Apiary in NYC. But the richness, classic stucture, balance, and class of this bottle were undeniable. The best and last bottle of this lot. Saved the best for last! How a Burgundy should taste when glorious.
With air, the aromas of cherry, raspberry, and earth give way to even richer and more pronouced flavors. Classic in structure this is a balanced Burgundy still drinking fresh and rich to the rim. Mellifluous with age.
