This was great. Very poised Auslese, taunt, precise, feather weight with bright acidity and a healthy dose of petrol and funk on the nose. Really lots of fun and showed very nicely. A Riesling fan's Riesling. Chose this to pair with a rhubarb crisp and the bite of the rhubarb played off the wine really well. '03 Auslese have impressed me with their surprising restraint over the years and this wine was another example of that. Delicious.

A really superb Auslese; fantastic aromatics of lilacs, smoke, savoury leesy notes and bright white fruited flavours with touches of honey and tremendous balance and depth in the mouth - rather than coming across as tropical-sweet or soft like a lot of other 03s I've had (Willi Schaefer's aside), this feels almost chewy and firm with more acidity than I expected and an incredibly long finish. A wow wine (and easily the best '03 German I've had).

Bordeaux Tasting from 2009: Not exactly in fine form. Floral and sweet fruits. Acidity is not the best.

Bordeaux Tasting at Cafe Levain: Nose: Fresh nose of apricot and slate. Very subtle nose. Palate: Not much RS for an Auslese but very nice.
