  For what it was , the wine had nice round aged red fruit nuances with secondary development of cigar box and tobacco leaves with dried earth. Knowing its age this is really quite developed for a 99. Nonetheless an enjoyable burg.

  Dinner at Two Chefs - "Papal" Wines (Two Chefs Eating Place, Sin Ming Ave): I found this way overdeveloped for a 1999. I do not usually mark wines down just for being advanced, but I thought this was just starting to tire. Indeed, most of us on the table guessed it was a decent, but not great vintage from the 1980s. The nose was certainly very mature, with secondary notes of iron and earth, meat and spice, and riding alongside preserved fruit aromas of dried black cherries and haw flakes - a very masculine sort of nose that led me to think NSG rather than Chambolle. Much the same on the palate, with tannins started to lose their grip and a soft acidity underlying more dried red fruit and haw flake tones. Overall, pretty enjoyable at points, but this seemed to lack the flesh and depth you would expect of a 1999 too, petering out into iron, herbs and spicy bramble at the rather shortish finish. Only with some time did a hint of mint and flowers escape at the end. Badly stored maybe. Decent, but no great shakes.
