Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 92.6 pts. and median of 93 pts. in 89 notes)

Tasted by jheathw on 1/30/2010 & rated 93 points: Tasted in a blind flight of Bordeaux. It only stood out when it was announced there was a ringer in the group as it carries a bit more fruit on the palate. Chalky tannins remain as a buttress to the gorgeous fruit on the palate and finish. Always enjoy this wine. (129 views)
Tasted by Bobo N on 1/20/2010 & rated 94 points: I now recall why WS had this wine toward the top of its Top 100 list. Outstanding, muscular wine w/ currant, pencil shavings, leather, cinammon, toast and hint of menthol. Last bottle I had of this was a little over a year ago and it seemed a bit hot and disjointed at that time with a dominant bell pepper on the nose that didn't recede fast enough, but this wine is now well-integrated, balanced and peaking. It's hard to say that a $65 wine is a good value, but this is drinking like a Napa Cab that's twice the money or an even more expensive Bordeaux. (436 views)

Tasted by pgordon62 on 12/4/2009 & rated 89 points: Double decanted 24hrs ahead. Surprisingly, only a moderately saturated color. Hi tone aromas of red fruits, menthol, a little earth and a touch of green bell pepper. Medium bodied with flavors that echoed the nose with the earth and green pepper moving to the fore. Anise, menthol and green pepper dominate the strong finish. The last glass was the most harmonious. A solid wine with a pleasing earthiness but hints at under-ripeness. (680 views)
Tasted by swyang on 11/26/2009 & rated 88 points: very dark, very heavy, very boring.
not much nuances what so ever. Good, but tiring. (749 views)

Tasted by michelvl on 11/15/2009 & rated 94 points: Perfect and ready to drink. The nose never came up to the perfection experienced on the palate, which is sublime and which would have made this a 96+ wine. Will drink well for another 3-5 years at minimum and is a true pleasure that shows its French roots. (843 views)
Tasted by mye on 10/9/2009 & rated 93 points: Medium purple. Decanted for 45 mins which got rid of a slight hint of brett. Nose of dark currant, black berries, and hints of pencil, toast, smoke. Flavor is full of ripe berries with nicely integrated acidity. Smooth tannins, and medium finish. Yum. (1012 views)
Tasted by Wine-Strategies on 9/4/2009 & rated 90 points: 30 minute decant. Enjoyable, but not overly memorable, the nose offers cocoa powder, red berries, cinnamon stick and toast. Full bodied, balanced, with low acidity and a medium finish. This has all the markings of a Michelle Rolland effort. Drink thru 2012. 14% abv (1175 views)

Tasted by La Cave d'Argent on 5/29/2009 & rated 87 points: Tasted in single-blind fashion (known to be a South American wine, nothing else). Bright disc. Opaque garnet robe. Clean, moderately-intense nose of ripe plums, smoke and earth. Full-bodied on the palate, with low-to-medium acidity, big dry tannins, liberal oak, hot alcohol and flavors which mirror the nose. Long but somewhat coarse and hot finish. This wine does not currently appear to have the balance for further ageing. Drink now-12/10. (1622 views)
Tasted by KWC3141 on 5/24/2009 & rated 90 points: Consitent with previuous notes very good once it opens, and drinking well now. (1554 views)
Tasted by mdstenner on 5/16/2009 & rated 94 points: This wine is drinking superbly now. Tasted blind one would almost think this is a Medoc. Pencil shaving, currants, and plum on the nose. Persistent in the mouth, with superb tannic grip, and enough acidity to see this improve for a few more years. Outstanding. (1674 views)
Tasted by KWC3141 on 5/8/2009 & rated 90 points: My first taste of this. I really enjoyed it. Good body and structure, black fruit, some herbacious aspects, licorice and sweet spices. Nose and taste much the same. Nice medium long finish. The whole thing is well integrated and drinking pretty wonderfully today. Excellent wine, a blend worth seeking out a bit. (1717 views)
Tasted by Gfritzh on 4/21/2009 & rated 95 points: A wonderful, mature Chilean Cabernet with smooth silky tannins, pleasant fruit and a long finish. Probably at its peak now and for another year. (1964 views)

Tasted by idrinkvino on 3/8/2009 & rated 93 points: Having a tough time keeping my hands off these. Drinking exceptionally well right now. (2022 views)
Tasted by michelvl on 3/7/2009 & rated 95 points: Ah! it is starting to loosen up and was a real pleasure. fruit is starting to come out and tannins have softened leaving a wine that is drinking well now but with a window that stretches at least another 10 years. if you have the patience leave it for another 2 years. It is however finally delivering now. See my previous notes. (1997 views)

Tasted by TomTom on 2/22/2009: This came across with a lot of oak tonight. There was some very nice fruit in the background, but I couldn't get by the oak and perceived extraction. (2097 views)
