Medium-deep, dark garnet in color with some slight clearing at the edges. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blackberries & plums with overtones of floral & earthy/dusty notes, tobacco, leather, herbs, mint/anise, savory spices, camphor, minerals & a hint of vanilla/oak. Full bodied with very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blackberries & black plums with herbs, spices, minerals & a touch of vanilla/oak. Long lingering smooth finish. Drinks quite well at present & at 40 years of age, is at its peak of development although it may hold here for a few more years. However, I doubt any further development would occur with additional aging, so drink up. Fill in lower neck, cork clean & intact. A wonderful wine!

This wine is too old. Still has a little bit of life, but really should have been opened maybe 7-10 years ago. Cork was in great shape and bottle well stored, so no issues there. Drink up.

Nose: starting elegantly with mushroom and green vegetables evolving to earthy (still elegant). Color: slight amber on the edge when pouring. Clear garnet with copious sediment in the bottle. Taste: mirrors the nose; sweetness of dark berries. Started somewhat sharp and bland but opened to soft smothnessnover half an hour.

Beautiful. Almost a ringer for Clos Rougeard, oddly enough.
