Maume has a reputation for being rustic, but this avoided that. Pretty dark berry fruit, some nice savory/gamey nuance without being overly bretty, mostly resolved structure, surprisingly elegant. However, like many 2000s, it lacks gears in the depth. Based on this bottle, drink up.

Slow-ox 90 minutes, tasted over 4 hrs, bottle obtained directly from domaine -nearly semi-translucent, mild bricking -fantastic, effusive, warm earth, Gevrey spice, stewed tomato funk, slight coffee, hint of maturity -med- acidity, med weight/concentration somewhat diffuse but generous mature earthy/mushroom with some faded tomato/cherry and a slight torrefaction, med- tannins with decent finish -killer aromatics, this bottle is fully mature but will easily be very good for another 5 years, typical for the vintage this lacks some structure and concentration making the oak toast a bit more prominent, but is lovely nonetheless

The 2000 was showing very well last night. The tannins have all faded into the background, revealing a bright spice followed by iron, cherry and meat. Excellent.

(Domaine Maume Mazis-Chambertin) Bricking medium dark garnet color with clear meniscus; nice earthy, red fruit, brett, mineral nose; very tart red fruit, tart cranberry, tart raspberry, mineral palate; medium-plus finish 91+ pts. (I've had better bottles--here the brett was more obtrusive than on prior examples)
