  • Allowed to breathe in glass 1 hour. Clear ruby-blood red color. Bouquet of chicken coop, unclean barnyard, mixed red fruits, stewed rhubarb, animal musk, manure, potpourri. Similar on the palate, pleasantly tart, seamless, balanced. The poopy notes diminished slightly with air but always dominated the bouquet over the fruit.

  • I share the sentiments of a recent reviewer who lamented this being his last bottle from a case of 24 375s. One of the very best values I have acquired. It has been beautifully balanced since year 4, has the silky elegance and depth of red cherry and minerals of premier Chambolle, and the half bottle was perfect for a guiltless splurge when I wanted something special at the last minute. I still have 4 left and will cherish each. The best Magnien I have tasted (out of many).

  • Arguably, the best wine purchase I have ever made. I have one 375ml left. My God, will I miss these. I had 24, and they died dutifully and beautifully. The wine has never failed me and has always been well balanced, fruit, acidity, tannins, funk, and finish. Thank you North Berkeley. Well played. These are (sadly were) the perfect complement to - "Let's open a bottle of nice burgundy!" - when you knew you were within your own to hoover more than half that sucker. A nice 375 ml speed bump. Oh dear.....crying in my wine.....

  • Wonderful aroma that unfortunately does not carry through to the palate. Extremely earthy (think: mouthful of dirt). Improves somewhat upon aeration. Good bit of pepper in the mix as well.Perhaps there is bottle to bottle variation, since some reviewers like this wine. For our part, we have tasted Chambolle-Musigny at lower price points that we found much more pleasing.

  • I recall purchasing a cs of this wine many years ago thinking - wouldn't it be fun to have a bunch of 375s of nice Burgundy? And I have to say - for the last 3 years, this has been an incredibly steady drinker, with a consistently amazing nose, pleasant mouthfeel, and long finish. I have 6 bottles of 375 left, and I think that they will be gone by Christmas of 2013, but maybe I am wrong. Great wine. Still showing well. Little barnyard on the back of the tongue but hey - I like. Drink up and enjoy.
