Pop and pour through Vinturi ... Softer and less bold than a younger petite, this held up well. Smooth and fruity, with a long, dry finish. Deep, dark crimson (near purple) with a reserved nose (again, I'd guess, a sign of its age). Good, but not great.

Really nice petite syrah. Initial nose of blackberry, bacon and something funky but in a good way. Tasting notes were all blackberry and white pepper. This wine paired very well with spicy salame pizza. The pizza sauce made the wine's flavors taste richer. Very enjoyable and balanced even if a bit simple on the palate. (Note: made from 140 year old Calistoga vines.)

Holding up surprisingly well for it's age. Opened strong, but softened quickly; however, tannins hold to the end. Fruity and bright.

Very smooth, medium finish; hot on the nose.

This is softer than when I tried a bottle 2 years ago, but the finish seems smoother.Good tannins, with tobacco and spice on the mouth.
