  • Day after from memory. I met the patriarch of this domaine in 1982 on my grand tour. I was in the cellar with three Australian importers. I think he said he was the mayor of Pernand but I didn't really speak French and neither did the Aussies so it was all 'wine language' anyway. He looked kind of like Albus Dumbledore. The highlight was when he pulled an unlabeled bottle off a rack and made us all guess the vintage. It was a '61 villages Aloxe-Corton and none of us were within 10 years. He howled with laughter. So I know these wines can age. The '93 was in lovely condition-sweet, slightly fading pinot fruit with earthy overtones and dusty tannins. In no immediate need of drinking. A nice auction grab for around $35
