  • Another example of how incredible the bottle variation is with these Domaine Serene Pinots... No cork issues with this one, yet a very distinct earthy character in the wine that is inconsistent with every other bottling I've had from the same vintage. Very special and enjoyable, but nothing like all the others that share the same label. A lovely wine, but the variation leads me to wonder what was actually in the bottle...

  • This wine continues to age incredibly well. Lively fruit despite 14-years in bottle, with balanced acidity and a medium finish.

  • An amazing wine that has aged beautifully. Flawed corks have resulted in a lot of bottle variation. But fortunately, this particular one -- despite disintegrating on removal -- didn't accelerate the aging. Lovely aromas of berry, forest floor, and a hint of vanilla. Cherry, strawberry, and earthy character on the palate. Medium finish and mouth-coating acidity. Beautiful.

  • Another flawed cork from Domaine Serene. It’s too bad as I believe these wines have several more years of good aging. Currently showing well. A bit of oxidation on the nose, but overall nice aromas of earth and berry. On the palate, smooth body with some freshness still present. Most of the bright acidity is toned down leaving some nicely integrated, though tiring fruit — likely from the bad corks.

  • Wow! What a difference a good cork makes. I've covered the problems with Domaine Serene's 2006 corks in previous tasting notes and am pleased to report that I finally found a bottle that did not have a bad cork and aged beautifully as a result.

Simply put, this wine was amazing. Dark garnet in the glass with layered aromas -- mixed berry, forest floor and charred oak -- jumping out. Cherry, strawberry and vanilla on the palate with lovely acidity, integrated tannin and a medium-long finish. Delicious.
