Next to a Montee de Tonnere which looked a lot better than this. I am an unashamed fanboy of Raveneau but this was definitely disappointing and uncharacteristically so given the other wines from this vintage are knockouts. Was so refined there was almost nothing there and that's the story. I looked hard to see something but in the end it just hints and teases but never really delivers
Birthday dinner at Benu in SF (yum)... A bit of an enigmatic bottle... Lots to love -- ethereal lightness, swirling in and out those exotic spearminty truffle notes, argan oil, vanilla frosting, fresh shaved sandalwood. There was a strange resinous note to this tho that I almost never get in Raveneau, and a teeeny hint of corkiness that seemed to come and go. Wish I had more of these for a second opinion, but alas, this was it. Still paired beautifully with several dishes at Benu.
