  • I was happy to see this wine on the list at a restaurant we go to with my parents here in Vancouver. It's part of a chain called Earls that has decent food and really fair wine prices. Lately their list has been New World centric. This wine had a nice red colour. The nose was warm and sweet, it showed the typical raspberry fruit one would expect. The real surprise for me was the sweetness. Can't really say too much about the finish but it seemed rather soft for the vintage. One rather famous American wine reviewer scored this 91 points which seems a little high to me for such a simple but delicious wine.

  • Man, is this a step up from the reserve CDR bottling. With Perrin bottling their Rasteau and Vinsorbe into seperate bottlings, I was wondering what this plain 'ole Villages desingate would be like. Well it be good. Much more concentration of fruit then the reserve, with a fennel/rasberry/light black pepper thing going on. Medium bodied, with very little tannins. Just a really nice everday quaffer that runs about $15. Great value, and this is a stand up 88, and could probably slide into 89.
