Lots of floral notes and redfruit qualities on the medium-weight nose with blackfruit notes coming in the longer the wine is open along with hints of leather. Nearly full bodied (14.5% ABV) and while it showed well upon opening, improved noticeably after one hour, and after 2.5, wow; truely impressive depth, complexity and integration. Starts off with very bright and pretty red cherry notes upfront, but the longer it's open the more the background black cherry and blackberry notes come to the fore. You never lose the redfruit qualities, but the blend between the two gets more and more complex. Excellent overall integration as the wine has good tannic structure, but fully in balance with the fruit. The depth and richness through the middle was particularly notable. Chocolate, leather and mineral notes on the finish which continued to lengthen the longer the wine was open. The wine is at or very close to peak, but considering how well it showed tonight, I suspect it should be able to stay at this level for 5 years or longer easily. (Taverna dell'Oca; Torino, Italy)

Moccagatta Winery Visit (Moccagatta Winery in Barbaresco): Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby with garnet rim. Legs. Nose is clean, pronounced intensity, with aromas of dark chocolate, mocha, black cherries, earthiness. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol, high tannins, full body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of dark chcolate, mocha, earth, blackberries and black cherries. Long finish. Very good quality. Integration, depth, and tertiary notes starting to show. Can drink now, and will continue to improve over the next 5 years.

Well made wine. Very nice nose with some wet saddle leather and dirt notes. On the palate the acidity was seriously mouthwatering but also somewhat balanced by firm tannins. Probably way too young to drink, but I had to test this one. The wine felt very unfiltered in the mouth, almost a bit "dusty". The fruit was deep and dark , very mature berries This was clearly a food wine.
