  • Nose: There is a touch of wood to the nose, but it doesn't dominate along with licorice, roasted herbs, dark red cherries, roses, and some tar notes.

Taste: Medium/full bodied with medium/high acidity with youthful and chewy tannins. The structure is noticeable, but there is a freshness to it with dark red cherries, roses, licorice, tar, and some leather notes.

Overall: This shows off the modern influence, but it isn't overdone. This can and will get better, but it is enjoyable now on the youthful side.

  • Decanted for 2 hours and served with pan grilled NY Strips. Dark red color (very dark for a ~10 year old Barolo- guessing this was from aging in smaller Barolos than traditional producers). Very fragrant nose - tar, rose petals, sour cherry & black cherry. Full body with very high acidity, stout tannins (although with food this is fine) with sour cherry, ripe cherry, medicinal flavor profile. I really enjoyed this and it has improved since my last tasting in 4/2011. 93+

  • Wonderful on the nose already at 11 deg C. With some time the wine became Quite strange. Bergamott, roses, herbs but kind of to much for a Barolo. Concentrated roses more like in a perfume. In a whorehouse. But with time very drinkable. Smooth tannines, some acid almost to easy to drink to match with food. Hard to judge/rate. Not my kind of Barolo but not to bad at the same time. Maybe i Should delete this irrational note... It was a Magnum and wife sleeping since hours...

  • Very modern, very young. I liked this more than I thought I would. This will never be a high end Barolo, but for what it is and the tariff, not bad. Best at the end of the last glass, so give this 3-5 more years if you have it (and want to use the cellaring space.....). Not the most elegant or nuanced, but a good wine, and relatively well made for its style. And the vintage shows well here.

  • At 40y birthdaydinner extraordinaire. From magnum. Really sang with a Kobe chuckroll with heaps of truffle.
