  • This bottle would have been outstanding with great flavour and depth, but there was something on the nose that kept me wondering about TCA. Checked on remains 24 hours later. Yes, this was corked on the nose, but the underlying material was still so good on the palate.

  • PopnPour, tasted over 3 hrs
    -med red minimal bricking
-expressive warm earth cherry faint mature elements slight funk
-med/med- acidity yields a softer mouthfeel, med- weight but sappy depth, sweet earthy cherry, med fine tannins and gentle oak on the moderately long finish
-really lovely with typical Serafin aromatics, 1er Cru depth if not complexity, in early maturity with no hurry should hold on the plateau for 3-5 years and still be solid beyond that

  • Lush ripe fruit, resolved tannins, just no complexity and not enough acid to make this one to come back to.

  • Not sure, We are big fans of Monsier Serefin yet this 2002 was not the number we expected. Nicol tried it blind and thought it was a bit of a piedmontese wine, like a sweetish barbaresco. So not sure if time got the better of it (the 1999 is a beautiful one now - Papies 91) or maybe its a 2002 issue). Definitely not as austere as we find other 2002s, very nice and healthy fruit and touch of earthy feel. Shame on that "overly" at times sweet core and in way because of it lack of complexity. 89?

  • Just as a burgundy should be as far as I am concerned. Starting to show ethereal weightlessness, but still some bite as well. Fruits both red and black. Great balance. Very good length. About as good as villages gets and drinking superbly now.
