Saying Goodbye to Relatores Street; 1/12/2016-1/14/2016 (Restaurant La Piperna - Madrid): In spite there was no gas at all I am on my knees when I've a bottle like this in front of me. Nose is pure lush, exotic, opulent, odalisque-like. Part of the Ingres' Turk Bath painting. My kingdom for this aroma. By disgrace that lack of carbonic let the wine flat, almost dead on the palate. A flawed bottle saved by those aromas. A shame and some fears for my only bottle.
Bottle Vs Magnum Vs Jeroboam (67 Pall Mall): Did you know that Winston Churchill order 42,000 bottles of Champagne from Pol Roger in his lifetime. No wonder they named their Prestige cuvee after him. This has a complex long nose and palate with a rich toasty feel. Lovely. Magnum - 96 Bottle - 97

(Pol Roger Cuvée Winston Churchill) Very cold when served, so allowed to warm. It opens up to reveal polished wood and nut oil aromas. The palate is a harmonious, nut-infused affair, with honey-tinged dried fruits. Impressive, but still youthful, rather reserved, a little diffuse and lacking in direction today. Nevertheless there is potential here.
(Pol Roger Champagne Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill) Lovely autolytic, yeast and ripe lemon nose; great, elegant, yeasty lemon palate; medium-plus finish 94+ pts. (my favorite of the 66 Champagnes on hand for the tasting)
(Pol Roger Cuvée Winston Churchill) A reserved nose, a touch honeyed and mealy, but a little reticent really. A fine palate, rich yet stylish, with a big and impressive, rounded character with more mealy-nuttiness like that on the nose. This is still very youthful but shows elegance combined with brooding potential. Currently one for the cellar, not drinking, and in time I think this will be excellent.
