Stunning. Honey drenched bread flavor beyond delicious. Fine acidity, long finish. This is the best '98 I can recall having. Definitely my style of Champagne, hits the bullseye. This bottle was as "on" as can be. Very highly recommended.
A superb bottle - head and shoulders above most champagnes I have tasted. A price that would buy half a dozen very drinkable reds, though........ I can't really put a number on it. It was simply the perfect glass for a recent celebration.

(Pol Roger Cuvée Winston Churchill) Very cold when served, so allowed to warm. It opens up to reveal polished wood and nut oil aromas. The palate is a harmonious, nut-infused affair, with honey-tinged dried fruits. Impressive, but still youthful, rather reserved, a little diffuse and lacking in direction today. Nevertheless there is potential here.
(Pol Roger Champagne Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill) Lovely autolytic, yeast and ripe lemon nose; great, elegant, yeasty lemon palate; medium-plus finish 94+ pts. (my favorite of the 66 Champagnes on hand for the tasting)
(Pol Roger Cuvée Winston Churchill) A reserved nose, a touch honeyed and mealy, but a little reticent really. A fine palate, rich yet stylish, with a big and impressive, rounded character with more mealy-nuttiness like that on the nose. This is still very youthful but shows elegance combined with brooding potential. Currently one for the cellar, not drinking, and in time I think this will be excellent.
