  • The cork was dry and fell into parts. How was this one stored? It´s still Ruby and not brown? Nose: Just extremely prominent raisins, that would suggest amarone or ripasso. Is this a Spanjor? Palete: Med body, smooth hardely noticable tannins, high acid, watery in the middle. Cherries, raisin and water ... un integrated wine. In fact, this wine must be overdue for a long time. Reminds me of a cherry wine that I made as a youngster and opened after 30 years. Sweetness and acid stay´s in separate corners. OK this was one of 6 different vintagies in a box. Nice to try, and it was definitable better with the calf minced beef we had. What will happen when I open the 1982 vintage?

  • Remarkably fresh, and great acidity, for a wine 21y old. Earth, strawberry, leather, vanilla, long finish, but lacks complexity.
Can age easily another 5-10y. 90p

update : after 1h in the glass, extra layers of fruit are hitting the palate. This is pure finesse! 92 points

  • A great bottle absolutely ready to close those mouths that consider Franco-Españolas winery out of the line when undoubtedly it is one of those traditional yet industrial giving us nothing else but satisfaction.
After a gentle decantation, this GR bloomed up.
Beautiful crimson colour. Brilliant and translucent without any sediment.
Smells like...wine! More precisely that aroma you perceive when take a visit some wineries all over the world. All concentrated into the glass. So your nose is invaded by wet leather, sandalwood or earth among many others. That's how a truly Rioja is...
On the palate is long, very savoury and with grip and acidity enough to run many years from now. Only lacks more complexity for a wine of this status and age. Little foursquared.
Sharing a Belgian cassoulet of moules and a truffed tournedos Rossini at restaurant Brabo in Melilla.
