Tasted blind. From the nose I could tell this was a masculine variant of Chambolle - the violets gave it away. Also some spice, blackberry and forest floor. Quite cool, almost minty on the palate. Very nice.
Not the most exiting bottle from the carton (why not a case considering the price of the wines in the Burgundy?), but still a very sophisticated chambolle with a very sound colour and a pure, deep bouquet and from start to finish a very good balance and a good body. Enjoy this wine now.
Chambolle as chambolle has to be; just a bit more concentration in the nose and taste than a vosne and just a bit more precise than most nuits. It is a balanced wine, perfectly coloured, with a pure and deep pinot bouquet. The taste is stylish with a very good backbone; the opposite of dull. At the end the aftertaste shows length and class. Bravo for this 'basic' chambolle.
