Decanted for ~1 hour and then drank over the next two. This still has plenty of fruit that is red and black cherry with emerging earth notes, but this acid structure is still quite dominant and therefore not approachable (and initially even shrill). Unclear whether this has the ability to integrate but the component parts are still there in abundance.

Pretty representative of the vintage; tight, high acid, and relatively lean on opening. Some time in the decanter helps flesh this out, though still a bit rustic and four square in style. Certainly not as polished and stylistic as newer renditions. Pretty good, though not exceptional. Can drink any time.

Burgs & Barolos (Bronte): earthy red, starting to brick at the edges. earthy, even blend of plums, black cherry and earthy/gamey characters. still fruit dominant but the earthy character comes through. stylistically a little blunt, but good clean flavours and some nice aged personality. plenty of tannins.
