  • I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to taste a young Rayas and the mature blowout that the 1962 proved to be side by side. While the 2013 tasted incredibly tannic and was lacking in complexity- I truly felt like I was drinking grape juice- the 1962 was a far better showing of the Rayas vineyards. The color was uncategorically brick red, like that of an 82-89- lacking the golden halo you'd expect to find. Tannins were very mellowed out and the wine had a nose of licorice and dark red fruit. Delish.
