Drinking very well on this night. Opens up after an hour decant, to what i can only describe as a cigar box full of raisins and powdered chocolate. Palate has dominant fresh plum, dark chocolate, tobacco, earth. There is a refined polish, and lovely tension to this wine. Minimum sediments after a careful pour. Colour was brooding and dark, and virtually no musk. If stored correctly, will definitely hold longer. But right now it seems the wine is very balanced and very enjoyable.
Aromas of dark fruit, spice and some leather. A well polished wine as you would expect from Chapoutier, but not really what I'm digging these days. Doesn't have the acidity that I usually look for; the fact that I'm not digging CdP so much right now plus the 2003 vintage doesn't make for a great combo. Interestingly, we bought this directly from Chapoutier in Tain L'ermitage in 2005 and quite liked it. Oh how tastes change!
