Long oxygenation via slow ox and then much more in the evening once we poured glasses. Major evolution ensued. It smelled blockish and tired at first, but opened up and transformed later.
Dark garnet, slight bricking. A: espresso note fades, mushroom and beef, dark soil. P: entry similar to aromatics, then builds into a rich core of dark cherry, and finished with a burst of juicy floral and red fruit notes with resolved but present tannins and a longish finish!

4th of 6, opened an hour, perfect level, cork quarter worked, little changed from last bottle noted in December 18, attractive in burly, beefy sort of way, but frustrating lack of nuance, closer in style to Willamette valley than Volnay, bags of life and energy, upside possible maybe. VGI (17).

3rd of 6, decanted 30 minutes, perfect cork and level - now drinking well, big, beefy style with black cherry and plum fruit flavours, earth, quite mineral, unresolved tannin on exit, attractive, could be purer, so no better than F (17.5) for now.

This wine has really come together and is drinking brilliantly well. There's still a gentle whiff of espresso from the barrel but then its all waves of dark cherry and plum fruits. It is full, creamy and rich in the mouth. There's plenty of floral nuance and it is extremely long and expansive.
