  • Meh. This has faded into generic old Riesling, and tastes like slightly alcoholic stale apple juice.

  • Indianapolis IV; 3/9/2018-3/11/2018 (Indianapolis, IN): #26-94, 7.5% abv. Passable for its age, but mostly thin and lean now. Not much sweetness here, but also not much else.

  • Dinner at Osteria in Greensboro,NC with Steve & Barb. AP#26-94. Medium gold in the glass I knew this would be drinking well but just how delicious it was amazed all 4 of us. Delicate in nature with tons of minerality and richness. The richness gave way a somewhat round palate that was not slightly sweet but in beautiful balance. Pink grapefruit-like acidity and a medium length finish. One of those rare bottles caught at exactly the right moment. I think it will drink this way for another 5 years. Stunning and absolutely perfect match for Dena's starter of salmon carpaccio with a strawberry kiwi relish and mango sauce. Being me I couldn't resist the wild boar Ragusa over house made pasta. Not a great match buts both the food and wine were excellent. Only fault was that I would have liked to see a longer and more complex finish. 14+14+8+9=95.

  • Opened for the 2nd Seder. AP #26-94. While not a true blockbuster of a wine, this was really good and showed the aging potential of Selbach Oster given that this is a 17 year old Kabinett from an unheralded vintage. Not sweet, but not dry either, this wine was loaded with a sweet tart acidity that lasted well into the long finish. Abbreviated notes as I was enjoying Dena's amazingly balanced matzo ball soup too much to focus on the wine. 50+12+12+8+8 = 90

  • Rednecks & Rhones at Greg Ellis' house. AP #26-94. Medium yellow in the glass, this was a very delicate and airy wine. Lightly sweet with a lime acidity that gains tremendously in intensity on the very long finish. Loaded with Middle Mosel slate. Will drink well for 10 more years ( conservatively ). 50+12+13+8.5+8.5 = 92
