Drinking beautifully! Used an ah-so to open. Decanted BTG. If I was blind tasting, I would not guess this is an almost 20 yr old wine. Still bright fruit, dark red and black fruit. Leather, vanilla, oak, toffee, plum, medicinal

dark color when poured with a hint of cherry (as opposed to orange) on the rim. Muted dark fruit, cassis, plum that never opened. Solid with tannins fading to vanilla. Most likely past its prime.

Stood up to (and in some cases) killed younger wines -- from 2018, even. Muted for certain, but only in the nose. It delivered in the front, middle and back-palette. Proof, once again, that Blackjack Ranch is the unsung hero of the Santa Ynez region. World-class, ageable wines.

PnP. If you have this, drink it now. A big amount of sediment, and bottom of cork was crumbling. Decent flavor but a bit flat, a hint of bitterness, and no lift at all. Probably better 2-3 years ago.

Drinking even more beautifully now. It opened with a hint of candied walnuts, then presented as deep, savory and structured, with a peppery finish.
